Augusta Home & Garden Show Kicks Off 21st Year. Offers a free weekend of inspiration for homeowners, foodies, and families looking to unplug.
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The smell of fresh paint and sizzling food samples filled the Augusta Convention Center. On Friday as the 21st annual Augusta Home and Garden Show opened its doors. Wrapping up a successful first day and setting the stage for a bustling weekend of free family fun.
Two more days to go. The show is shaping up to be more than just a parade of faucets and flooring. It’s a hub for local flavor, home improvement ideas, and a timely conversation about getting kids off their screens and into the backyard.
That last part is a personal mission for Tara Miller, president of Noble Quest Play Equipment. Standing near a display of swing sets and playscapes, Miller shared why her company is a fixture at the event.
“A lot of what kids are experiencing right now is digital play,” Miller said, echoing a concern familiar to parents everywhere. “We want them to have physical play, social play, and emotional play, and we believe that playgrounds offer that outlet. When you come to the Augusta Convention Center this weekend, beware—your kids might be begging for one on the way home!”
Her message resonated as families wandered through the exhibit hall, checking out durable wooden sets designed to turn backyards into adventure zones—a direct challenge to the allure of tablets and video game consoles.
Of course, no Southern home and garden show would be complete without a healthy dose of local eats. The food vendor section was buzzing, with one particular booth drawing a crowd for its “crack on a cracker” pitch.
“Best seller right here,” a vendor announced, holding up a jar of candied jalapeños. “Highly addictive, first hits free, all the cool kids are doing it.” The vendor rattled off a mouth-watering list of uses: “It’s good for deviled eggs, tuna salad, chicken salad, tartar sauce, hot dogs, pizza, cornbread, hushpuppies… even a pizza sub wrap.”
Beyond the products, the show is packed with expert advice. Attendees this weekend can catch interior design insights from special guest Michael Siewart, or dig into gardening seminars presented by the UGA Extension Service’s Master Gardeners and Pinky Greens. Whether you’re planning a massive landscape overhaul or just want to keep a potted plant alive, there’s a session for you.
And with several giveaways planned throughout the weekend, there are plenty of reasons to stop by.
